Finding an Instructor

Unlike Europe, there is no requirement for instructors to be licensed or certified in the US. Most instructors have completed no formal training program, although many have worked with well-known and accomplished trainers. However, there are several organizations that offer formal training and certification programs:

The Certified Horsemanship Association (FB: Certified Horsemanship Association) www.cha.horse

American Riding Instructors Association (FB: American Riding Instructors Association) www.riding-instructor.com

US Hunter Jumper Association (FB: United States Hunter Jumper Association – USHJA)   www.ushja.org

Centered Riding (FB: Centered Riding) www.centeredriding.org

US Dressage Federation www.usdf.org

British Horse Society (FB: The British Horse Society) www.bhs.org.uk
